Who we are
Calmtopia builds calm, age-aware experiences that help kids practice emotional skills with grown-up guidance. The data controller for a given processing activity is the Calmtopia entity identified in your contract, checkout receipt, or app store listing. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Calmtopia Kids, we may collect:
Account and contact details
- Parent or caregiver email address, display name, authentication identifiers from sign-in providers (such as Apple or Google), and basic billing references from app stores.
Child profile information (entered by a grown-up)
- Optional nickname or first name, age band, and preferences that help tailor calm content. We design flows so children are not asked to share sensitive personal details.
Usage and device data
- In-app events needed to operate features (for example, which exercises were opened, completion timestamps, or technical diagnostics).
- Device type, operating system version, app version, locale, coarse network information, and crash logs to keep the service reliable and secure.
Support and communications
- Messages you send us, attachments you choose to provide, and metadata needed to respond.
Payments
- Mobile purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive limited purchase status from those platforms — not your full card number.
We do not require children to provide precise location data, government IDs, or health records to use Calmtopia Kids.
How we use information
We use the categories above to:
- Provide, personalize, and improve Calmtopia Kids experiences.
- Show parent insight that reflects practice over time, without turning feelings into a public scoreboard.
- Process purchases, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms.
- Respond to support requests and send service-related notices.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and generate aggregated statistics that do not identify you.
- Comply with law and protect rights, safety, and integrity of our users and services.
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on appropriate bases such as contract performance, legitimate interests balanced against your rights, compliance obligations, and consent when required.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service providers who assist with hosting, analytics, email delivery, customer support tooling, or security — under confidentiality terms and only as needed.
- Payment and platform partners (for example Apple App Store or Google Play) to validate purchases you initiate.
- Professional advisers (lawyers, auditors) when required.
- Authorities when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or to protect vital interests.
If Calmtopia is involved in a merger or acquisition, we will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
Children’s privacy
Calmtopia Kids is meant to be used with a parent or caregiver in charge of the account. We collect child-related information only to support the product experience and only in ways consistent with applicable children’s privacy laws (including the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and associated guidance). Parents may review, delete, or refuse further collection of certain child information by contacting us, subject to technical and legal limitations (for example, retaining minimal billing records).
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information.
- Export certain data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing was consent-based.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
California residents may have additional rights under the CPRA, including requesting information about categories of data collected and requesting deletion, subject to exceptions. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by CPRA unless we disclose otherwise in a separate notice.
To exercise rights, email support@calmtopia.com with your request. We may need to verify the identity of the adult on the account before fulfilling it.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including providing the service, meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained longer where it no longer identifies you.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if you believe your account was compromised, reset your device and provider passwords and contact us immediately.
International transfers
If you access Calmtopia Kids from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. We implement safeguards as required by applicable law when transferring personal data across borders.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law — for example by posting the new date at the top of this page, sending an email, or showing an in-app notice.
